In December of 1945 at the St. James Banquet, Bishop Tiran Nersoyan asked the young people of St. James to form a chapter of the Armenian Church Youth Organization. The first meeting was held less than a month later on July 4, 1946, and later that year the A.C.Y.O.A. was born in Providence, Rhode Island.

St. James A.C.Y.O.A. has always been one of the leading chapters of the nationwide organization, as well as an integral part of its parish. Throughout its history, it has completed many diverse projects such as running our Sunday School, providing our Diocese with a magazine (THE GUARDIAN), establishing key programs like the Armenian Studies Trips and Mission programs, and organizing a sports network that involves hundreds of young Armenians socially, athletically, and organizationally.
